In the final practice for the Portuguese Grand Prix on
Saturday, Red Bull's Max Verstappen was the fastest, followed by seven-time
world champion Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes.
Hamilton is hoping to become the first Formula, One
driver, to reach 100 pole positions but Verstappen showed he could lose in the
all-around circuit qualifying with a time of 18.489 seconds.
Lap was 0.236 faster than Hamilton's best effort and
0.331 faster than British Finnish teammate Valtteri Bottas.
Hamilton took the position after two races, which is
clear from his Dutch rival thanks to the fastest lap in the previous race in
Imola.
Both won once and finished second.
Former Hamilton teammate, 2016 world champion Nico
Rosberg commented; "Now it is impossible to say which of them is the
favorite to qualify. I think they are at exactly the same speed and it's just
the driver's. Will come. "
This was the first time this weekend that the Bulls
had led a practice session after Bottas and Hamilton accelerated in two days on
Friday.
Mexico's Sergio Perez was the fourth-fastest for the
Red Bull, with East bone O'Connor at fifth and Renault's fifth-ranked Alpine.
The Ferrari pair of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sons
were sixth and seventh with McLaren's Lindo Norris, eighth on the timesheets.
The virtual safety car was set off during the session
when a track ad store exploded in a tragic state and had to be retrieved.
