'There's only one Super League out there': Chelsea boss Emma Hess cheers on the breakdown

Chelsea manager Emma Hayes has announced that there is "only one Super League" as a result of a failed attempt to compete in a new break away from the European football ground.

Dozens of one of the biggest men's sports clubs had hoped to form their own tournament, which they hoped would be a UEFA Champions League match.

But Hayes, whose team is at the top of the Women's Super League and, of course, defending their title, is happy that the closed-shop competition has been reversed.

"I love the Champions League and I'm taking part in it," he said on the sidelines of the first leg of his semi-final against Bayern Munich on Sunday. "There's only one super: the egg, and that's the one we're playing with.

"I am just happy to be free. I am a person of merit. I always say that I have confidence in my club and the people who run the club. I am just thankful that we are just a super league.

Hayes has been in the last four of the Champions League twice before, losing to last champions Lyon in 2019 and Wolfsburg in 2018.

Asked if his team failed to win the tournament this time around, Hayes added: "Failure is a really tough word. I would call it frustration, not failure, not failure. Position. I

"So you are ready to compete competitively for the Champions League final. We have a 50-50 chance in that I will overcome these difficulties.

"If you had offered them at the beginning of the season, if you were in the position we would have won the Continental Cup, at the top of the league, I would have taken it.

"There are top teams here, so where will we be - I'm honored. When you play in a European game, you get nothing, because when it's so different, each other's size. It takes a game to take.

"You can't win the tie in the first round, but you can definitely get out of it. We have to remember the things we got here."
