Dom Sibley is ready to spell with a broken finger

England batsman Dom Sibley will miss the next two matches in Warwickshire with at least a broken finger.

Sally had been hoping to find form in the early part of the domestic season after a difficult winter in the subcontinent, but she has seen her plans hurt.

The opener sustained a blow while fielding against Nottinghamshire and was unable to bat in the match. He will now miss this week's home match against Essex and then visit Durham before further assessment.

A statement from the England and Wales Cricket Board said: "Dom Sibley will face a reduction in the next two LV = Insurance County Championship matches when scans revealed that he has broken his right middle finger. B and Warkshire's medical teams will review Sagely at the end of the month and then take a look at his return to the game.

Sally will soon be working with the most successful top-order scorers in England in recent days, with Jonathan Trott returning to Edgbaston as a coaching adviser.

Trott spent 15 years with the club as a player, winning five trophies before retiring in 2018.

He then spent time with England as a batting mentor, on a recent Test tour of India, and applied for a full-time role that eventually went to Marcus Trescott.

The 39-year-old has rejoined the Bears under his new head coach, Mark Robinson, after previously having a toothache in the backroom role in Kent.

Trott said: "It means a lot of money for me to come back to Warwickshire, in this new role as a consultant.

"There are a lot of talented players in the squad, some of whom I know well from my time on the field. I am thrilled to have this opportunity and hope to support the Bears in my journey to become a team that will continue to challenge the Bears for trophies again.

Cricket director Paul Farbras added: "Jonathan knows exactly what it means to win a trophy with Warwickshire and England.

He said he would be a great supporter and mentor to the players and could play a significant role in the development of several members of the squad. “
